　　I am very happy to come to beautiful Davos. Although Davos is only a small town in the Alps, it is an important window to observe the world economy. Everyone gathered here from all directions, and all kinds of ideas collided with sparks of wisdom, and achieved high output with less input. I think this phenomenon can be called "Schwab economics".

　　"This is the best time, but also the worst time", British writer Dickens once described the world after the industrial revolution. Today, we also live in a contradictory world. On the one hand, material wealth is accumulating, scientific and technological progress is changing with each passing day, and human civilization has developed to the highest level in history. On the other hand, regional conflicts occur frequently, and global challenges such as terrorism and refugee flows are one after another. Poverty, unemployment and income gap are widening, and the uncertainty facing the world is rising.

　　In this regard, many people are confused. What happened to the world?

　　To solve this puzzle, we must first find the root of the problem. There is a view that the world chaos is attributed to economic globalization. Economic globalization was once regarded as the cave of Alibaba, and now it is regarded as Pandora’s box by many people. The international community has held extensive discussions around the issue of economic globalization.

　　Today, I want to talk about my views on the world economy from the perspective of economic globalization.

　　What I want to say is that many problems that plague the world are not caused by economic globalization. For example, in the past few years, the tide of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa has affected the whole world, millions of people have been displaced, and even many young children have been buried in the sea on the way, which makes us sad. The causes of this problem are wars, conflicts and regional turmoil. The way to solve this problem is to seek peace, promote reconciliation and restore stability. For another example, the international financial crisis is not the inevitable product of the development of economic globalization, but the result of excessive profit-seeking of financial capital and serious lack of financial supervision. Simply blaming the problems that plague the world on economic globalization is neither in line with the facts nor helpful to solve the problems.

　　Historically, economic globalization is the objective requirement of the development of social productive forces and the inevitable result of scientific and technological progress, and it is not artificially created by any person or country. Economic globalization has provided a strong impetus for world economic growth and promoted the flow of goods and capital, the progress of science and technology and civilization, and people-to-people exchanges among countries.

　　Of course, we also have to admit that economic globalization is a "double-edged sword". When the world economy is in a downturn, the "cake" of the global economy is not easy to get bigger or even smaller, and the contradiction between growth and distribution, capital and labor, efficiency and fairness will become more prominent, and both developed and developing countries will feel the pressure and impact. The voice of anti-globalization reflects the deficiency of the process of economic globalization, which deserves our attention and deep thinking.

　　"Sweet melons are bitter, and beautiful dates are thorns." Philosophically speaking, there is no perfect thing in the world. It is not comprehensive to regard it as perfect because it has advantages, and it is not comprehensive to regard it as useless because it has disadvantages. Economic globalization has indeed brought new problems, but we can’t kill it with a stick, but we should adapt to and guide it, eliminate its negative effects and make it better benefit every country and nation.

　　At that time, China had misgivings about economic globalization and had misgivings about joining the World Trade Organization. However, we believe that integration into the world economy is the historical direction. If China wants to develop its economy, it must dare to swim in the sea of Wang Yang in the world market. 　　At the end of last year, I proposed at the informal meeting of APEC leaders that the process of economic globalization should be more dynamic, inclusive and sustainable. We should take the initiative and manage appropriately, so as to release more positive effects of economic globalization and realize the rebalancing of the process of economic globalization; We should conform to the general trend, combine the national conditions and correctly choose the path and rhythm of integrating into economic globalization; We should stress efficiency and fairness, so that different countries, different classes and different people can share the benefits of economic globalization. This is the responsibility of the leaders of our time, and it is also the expectation of people from all over the world.

　　At present, the most urgent task is to lead the world economy out of the predicament. The world economy has been in a long-term downturn, and the gap between the rich and the poor and the gap between the north and the south has become more prominent. The root cause is that the three prominent contradictions in the economic field have not been effectively solved.

　　First, the global growth momentum is insufficient to support the sustained and steady growth of the world economy. The growth rate of the world economy is at the lowest level in seven years, and the growth rate of global trade continues to be lower than the economic growth rate. Short-term policy stimulus is not effective, and deep-seated structural reforms are still being promoted. The world economy is in the shift period of kinetic energy conversion, and the pulling effect of traditional growth engines on the economy is weakened. Although new technologies such as artificial intelligence and 3D printing are constantly emerging, new economic growth points have not yet formed. The world economy has still failed to open up a new path.

　　Second, global economic governance is lagging behind and it is difficult to adapt to the new changes in the world economy. Not long ago, Ms. Lagarde told me that the contribution rate of emerging market countries and developing countries to global economic growth has reached 80%. In the past few decades, the international economic power has undergone profound changes, but the global governance system has failed to reflect the new pattern, which is not representative and inclusive enough. The global industrial layout is constantly adjusting, and new industrial chains, value chains and supply chains are increasingly formed. However, trade and investment rules have failed to keep up with the new situation, and the mechanism is closed and the rules are fragmented. The global financial market needs to strengthen its ability to resist risks, but the global financial governance mechanism has failed to meet the new demand, and it is difficult to effectively solve the problems such as frequent turmoil in the international financial market and the accumulation of asset bubbles.

　　Third, the global development is unbalanced and it is difficult to meet people’s expectations for a better life. In his book The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Mr. Schwab wrote that the fourth industrial revolution will have an extremely extensive and far-reaching impact, including increasing inequality, especially the gap between capital return and labor return. The wealth of the richest 1% population in the world exceeds the sum of the wealth of the remaining 99% population, and the unequal income distribution and unbalanced development space are worrying. More than 700 million people in the world still live in extreme poverty. For many families, having a warm house, enough food and a stable job is still a luxury. This is the biggest challenge facing the world today, and it is also an important reason for social unrest in some countries.

　　These problems reflect that there are problems that must be solved in the current world economic growth, governance and development model. Du Nan, the founder of the International Red Cross, said: "The real enemy is not our neighbors, but hunger, poverty, ignorance, superstition and prejudice." We should not only have the wisdom to analyze problems, but also have the courage to take action.

　　First, adhere to the drive of innovation and create a dynamic growth model. The fundamental problem facing the world economy is the lack of growth momentum. Innovation is the first driving force for development. Compared with previous industrial revolutions, the fourth industrial revolution unfolded at an exponential but nonlinear speed. We must find a way out in innovation. Only by daring to innovate and change can we break through the bottleneck of world economic growth and development.

　　The G20 leaders reached an important consensus at the Hangzhou Summit, and they should take innovation as an important starting point to tap new impetus for economic growth of countries and the world. We should innovate the concept of development, go beyond the debate about whether fiscal stimulus is more or monetary easing is more, and establish the idea of treating both the symptoms and root causes and comprehensive policies. We should innovate policy means, promote structural reforms, create space for growth and increase stamina. We should innovate the growth mode, grasp the opportunities brought by the new round of industrial revolution and digital economy, not only deal with the challenges brought by climate change and aging population, but also resolve the impact of informationization and automation on employment, and pay attention to creating new employment opportunities in the process of cultivating new industries, new formats and new models, so that people of all countries can regain their confidence and hope.

　　Second, adhere to synergy and create an open and win-win cooperation model. Human beings have become a community of destiny in which you have me and I have you. Their interests are highly integrated and interdependent. Every country has the right to development, and at the same time, it should consider its own interests at a broader level, not at the expense of the interests of other countries.

　　We must unswervingly develop an open world economy, share opportunities and interests in opening up and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. We must make great efforts to develop global connectivity, so that all countries in the world can achieve coordinated growth and move towards common prosperity. We must unswervingly develop global free trade and investment, promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment in the process of opening up, and take a clear-cut stand against protectionism. Protectionism is like shutting yourself in a dark room. It seems to have escaped the wind and rain, but it also isolates the sun and the air. The result of a trade war can only be mutual loss.

　　Third, keep pace with the times and create a fair and reasonable governance model. Xiao Zhi governs affairs, and great wisdom governs the system. The urgency of the reform of the global economic governance system is becoming more and more prominent, and the voice of the international community is getting higher and higher. Only when the global governance system adapts to the new requirements of the international economic structure can it provide a strong guarantee for the global economy.

　　All countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, are equal members of the international community and should participate in decision-making, enjoy rights and fulfill obligations on an equal footing. It is necessary to give emerging market countries and developing countries more representation and voice. In 2010, the IMF’s quota reform program has come into effect, and this momentum should be maintained. We must adhere to multilateralism and safeguard the authority and effectiveness of the multilateral system. To keep promises and abide by rules, you can’t choose or choose according to your own wishes. The Paris Agreement is in line with the general direction of global development, and the results are hard-won. We should stick to it together and not give up lightly. This is our responsibility to future generations!

　　Fourth, adhere to fairness and tolerance and create a balanced and inclusive development model. "The trip to the avenue is also the world’s public." The purpose of development is to benefit the people. At the age of 64, he is a researcher at the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He and his team have been engaged in the protection and research of finless porpoises for more than 40 years. "It can be said that my whole academic career has been related to finless porpoises." Wang Ding said that seeing the increasing number of Yangtze finless porpoises, people’s awareness of the protection of finless porpoises has been significantly strengthened, and he thinks that his team’s research is a success.

Wang Ding went to college in 1977, majoring in radio electronics in the Department of Space Physics. Upon graduation, the first research group in China to pay attention to the baiji aquatic animals was just established in the Institute of Hydrology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and needed technicians related to acoustics, which overlapped with Wang Ding’s major, so the research group sent him an invitation. "I used to study astrophysics. Since then, my research has moved from the sky to the water." Wang Ding smiled when he mentioned his choice.

Wang Ding’s first research object is a baiji named Qiqi. Qiqi was mistakenly arrested by fishermen at the mouth of Dongting Lake. After being rescued, she has been living in Baiji Dolphin Museum of Institute of Aquatic Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Recording Qiqi all the year round, Wang Ding has been able to distinguish its various sounds. "The sound it makes represents different States, some are calling, some are mooing when it is leisurely, and some are squeaking when it is excited." Wang Ding said that Qi Qi was the only baiji living in an artificial environment in the world at that time. He expected to overcome the scientific blind spots such as the living habits of baiji and the meaning of making different sounds from it, and provide scientific basis for the protection of freshwater dolphins in the Yangtze River.

On July 14th, 2002, Qiqi passed away because of her age and poor health. Wang Ding said that in order to find the baiji and preserve their species artificially as soon as possible, from November to December 2006, he led more than 60 experts and scholars at home and abroad to inspect the Yangtze River for 39 days, but found nothing.

After the baiji dolphin was declared functionally extinct, the Yangtze finless porpoise became the only remaining freshwater dolphin in the Yangtze River. Wang Ding and his research team have been trying to protect the Yangtze finless porpoise ex situ since 1990.

In 1990, in order to protect the baiji, the Institute of Aquatic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units pioneered the establishment of a natural ex-situ conservation area for finless porpoises in the old course of the Yangtze River in Swan Island, Shishou, Hubei Province. In 2013, in order to open up more ex-situ conservation areas, led by Wang Ding, the subject group of cetacean conservation biology of Institute of Aquatic Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences (formerly the first research group focusing on aquatic animals in China) and several units jointly visited the Yangtze River in Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan to find a suitable place to establish ex-situ conservation areas of Yangtze finless porpoise.

"White flowers in alkaline land are planted once a year, and there are not many seedlings, and they will not be harvested after autumn." Songnen Plain is one of the three concentrated distribution areas of soda saline-alkali land in the world, which is rich in reserve land resources. 　　The original image is the high idea and realm of image thinking, the invisible image of the elephant mentioned by Lao Zi, the image of spirit and the image of returning to the mind and enlightenment. The original image of image thinking is not the "entity" of western metaphysics, but the image that is too empty. Its original image is not a vacuum but contains the spirit of neutralization, but the existence of "being born out of nothing", which is the image of original creation and the image of dynamic whole.

　　The rise of image thinking is related to the variation of the external world. Since the mid-19th century, scientific standards have gradually become the only standard to measure everything, excluding everything that cannot be conceptualized and formulated from "truth". However, their abstraction itself also has the potential danger of simplification and rigidity. 　　3. The change and innovation of discipline direction.

　　With the formation of "people-oriented" health concept, the subject direction of traditional Chinese medicine must be changed to adapt to the changes of the environment and serve the needs of great health, which is also the historical responsibility of contemporary Chinese medicine scholars.

　　Therefore, people should be placed between heaven and earth to see people’s health and diseases. Improve the framework of diagnosis and treatment system with holistic view and syndrome differentiation as the main body, obtain the curative effect of consensus evidence-based and narrative medicine, interpret and deepen the research of basic theoretical concepts, popularize the concept and method of "preventing disease", explore the transformation of research thinking from "reductive analysis" to "systematic research", strengthen the establishment of standardized standards of traditional Chinese medicine at home and abroad, and continuously enhance the international academic influence of traditional Chinese medicine.

　　There must be a clear understanding of the attributes of disciplines: first, under the guidance of big science, fully open up multi-disciplines to participate in academic research of traditional Chinese medicine, and at the same time pay attention to basic theoretical research, return to original thinking, and sort out the guiding role of philosophical principles in traditional Chinese medicine. Second, we should study the correlation of complex systems, dare to break through the boundaries of original disciplines and advocate integration. The third is to interpret, absorb and popularize scientific concepts in excellent cultures of different nationalities and regions.

　　In recent ten years, the author has been recognizing the changes in the direction of medicine. The new trend indicates that it is possible for Chinese and western medicine to move towards integration.

　　Traditional Chinese medicine education has been centered on clinical medicine, and its syndrome differentiation and treatment has original advantages and is consistent with individualized medicine. A multidisciplinary research team has been set up for the study of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions, including not only Chinese and western medicine experts, but also experts in chemistry and physics. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription has the material basis of compatibility and combination of traditional Chinese medicine, and also reflects the therapeutic effect, which is the carrier of traditional Chinese medicine theory. The author puts forward that "the potential of prescription lies in the integration, and different compatibility of different decoction pieces, different components and different compounds has different effects. Explain the correlation between multi-components and multi-targets, and integrate confrontation, supplement and adjustment in view of holographic diseases and syndromes, so as to play a harmonious effect of synergism, attenuation and synergism". The integration effect includes the integration of drug substance and biological effect, the integration of drug entity and characterization information, and the integration of drug efficacy and human function.

　　Through experiments, it is realized that "network" can be regarded as a whole, which is the foundation and key technology of the system. For example, "network pharmacology" has various biological networks, such as gene regulation network, protein interaction network, information transmission network, metabolic network and phenotypic network, as the key to complex system analysis, which represents a new research concept and method in line with the overall characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine.

　　Chinese scholars’ research on compound network pharmacology, which is carried out in both Chinese and western countries, is basically in sync with the international situation, which is expected to make the research on traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions among the forefront of contemporary science and technology and provide strong support for source innovation. For example, China successfully prevented and controlled human and poultry influenza A for the first time. In the process of comprehensive integration and innovation, traditional Chinese medicine developed Jinhua Qinggan recipe based on syndrome differentiation and diagnosis of epidemic febrile diseases in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and used standard decoction, which achieved remarkable results in prevention and treatment. The paper was published in the American Yearbook of Internal Medicine, and the World Health Organization also suggested popularizing the experience of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating human and poultry influenza A, which improved the international influence of traditional Chinese medicine.

　　At present, the general trend of medical development is to implement individualized medicine, preventive medicine, predictive medicine, translational medicine and participatory medicine. This provides a good opportunity for traditional Chinese medicine to play its original advantages. For example, TCM diagnosis and treatment starts from the whole. For the same disease, due to differences in genetic background, endowment and physique, and different syndromes, the dosage of the treatment prescription is also different. In the medical model, it is emphasized that physiology and psychology should adapt to the changes of nature and social environment, which embodies the characteristics of individualized medicine. The idea of preventing diseases before they happen and preventing changes after they happen, and the promotion of various TCM health care methods have practiced the true meaning of preventive medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine, represented by the theory of five movements and six qi, actively identifies the physical health status and evolution trend and adapts to the changes of various climates and phenological environments, which is emphasized by modern medicine, with emphasis on early monitoring before illness.

　　As one of the key changes, translational medicine can highlight the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine stresses translational medicine, which is to condense scientific problems from clinical practice, then do basic research and development research of new compound prescription, and turn basic scientific research achievements into clinical application, thus improving the level of maintaining health and preventing diseases. Therefore, the research mode of translational medicine must be the close cooperation of multidisciplinary consortia, the transformation of hospitals into pre-hospital communities and towns, the transformation of mature technologies into industrial research and development, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into benefits for people’s livelihood, and the transformation of grass-roots medical teaching and research production into talent training.

　　Can today’s traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine develop in the direction of convergence with complementary interaction, and can they lay the foundation for building a unified new medicine?

　　Western medicine, which was born on the basis of western industrial civilization, once focused on the "disease" of patients for a period of time, pursued biological indicators, emphasized technology and demonstration, and emphasized that it must be repeatable and reproducible. In the 20th century, reductionism prevailed, which had certain positive significance for medical progress, but in the long run, it was suspected of putting the cart before the horse. However, the diagnosis and treatment goal of TCM focuses on the patient’s "person". As a whole system medicine, TCM has clear internal standards, such as "Qi and pulse are always normal", "Concentrate on essence and concentrate on mind" and "Yin and Ping Yang are secret". In terms of specific intervention methods, Chinese medicine emphasizes moderation in diet, focusing on yin and yang, and advocates that everyone take the initiative to participate in the whole process of recognizing their own health and maintaining health, so as to keep healthy qi inside and prevent evil from doing. This also coincides with the concept of modern health management.

　　Therefore, when we promote translational medicine and use network medicine as the focus of adjustment and reform, it is possible for us to fully understand the essence of reductionism and system theory in the process of modern difficult-to-treat diagnosis and treatment in the face of multi-factor, multi-variable and multi-tissue and organ complexity, and to integrate the basics of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine and then generate new innovations.
